Letter Support from Retired Police Chief Dag Garrison

This could be the most important local election in Issaquah in the last 25 years. The city has a variety of complex issues in the coming year that require strong leadership, experience and a history of successful accomplishments. Ava Frisinger has those qualifications. The City Council sets the policy but the Mayor implements policy in a variety of ways. She has trained staff during her last eight years to be on top of every issue, with emphasis on individual performance and treating citizens with the utmost respect and concern. Ava has been very fiscally conservative with the public's money; Issaquah enjoys one of the lowest tax rates on the eastside and yet provides excellent services. I do not believe the residents of any city in the state, let alone the Eastside enjoys a better relationship with city employees than the City of Issaquah.

Other reasons I support Ava for Mayor is that this is not the time to make changes because of the many issues now facing the City of Issaquah. As an example, the annexations of South Cove and Klahanie require proven leadership to bring in those areas and residents into the City of Issaquah. Ava understands how to determine and provide service levels to the annexed area while keeping cost as low as possible. The new residents of the city will want to get involved in city affairs and Ava will be able to provide the leadership necessary to bring them on board. The bypass is another issue that will be decided very soon and this requires proven leadership that Ava can and does provide. The goal is to provide what our residents want. Another project that Ava started is the synchronization of the traffic signals in the traffic corridors to expedite the movement of traffic. This issue has been on the table for some time and Ava is the one who will bring this goal to completion. There are also many other complex issues that will require Ava's proven leadership during the next four years.

Ava is a very strong and warm leader extremely dedicated to the Citizens of Issaquah.

We need Ava in the Mayor's office.

Dag Garrison Retired
Police Chief, City of Issaquah
