Medal of Honor Ceremony

Quoted from the Model of Honor Ceremony for William Kenzo Nakamura and James Okubo, March 16th, 2001.  The Model of Homer was  awarded to them posthumously for their service in World War II.  The following day, the US Courthouse in Seattle was named in honor of  William Kenzo Nakamura.

The city of Issaquah is grateful to all those who have given their lives on the defines of freedom.  It is singularly appropriate to honor heroes who sacrifice themselves for a freedom of which they were deprived and in so doing apologize for a wrong done to them.    May we learn form their magnanimity and as a nation, never pre-judge any person’s patriotism.

Ava Frisinger Mayor, Issaquah WA
