What have you already done to alleviate traffic?
- Got interim Park & Ride lot in the Highlands (opponent voted against it).
- Got Transit Center for Issaquah (at current Park & Ride site)
- Got $7 million in Sound Transit dollars added to SR-900 project to solve traffic problems there (including ending the “no right turn off Gilman Blvd.”)
- Supported and got SPAR and Sunset Interchange built.
- Got SE 229th signal approved by state (WSDOT) to solve dangerous intersection on E. Lake Sammamish where the gravel trucks come out. This should be completed next year.
- Got Intelligent Transportation Systems (signal synchronization) grant from the state.
- Got State dollars to help with Front Street/I-90 ramps.
- Improved and widened E. Lake Sammamish from I-90 to Vaughn Hill Rd.
What is your opponent doing to fix
traffic?
- My opponent pretends concurrency and capacity are the same thing. Concurrency doesn’t add capacity or reduce congestion.
- Opponent tells State and other funding agencies “It is better to fund nothing, than fund the Bypass", in effect opposing safety improvements, trail links, the I-90 undercrossing and transit.
- He is proposing to add trips to days traffic levels without adding capacity by changing the definition of concurrency.
