Notes on Italy Tuscany
The farm we stayed at in Tuscany (Caio Alto) is: http://www.badiola-caioalto.com/index.php?lang=en They only rent Saturday to
Saturday and it is not a working farm. The woman who runs it is charming
but you are there by your selves or the guests in the other 2 units so there is
not a lot of interaction with the locals. It is a great base for touring
Tuscany. We have stayed at this farm twice and the other couple we travel with has stayed there 4 times. The last time was in the fall of 2006
Puglia (In the "heel" of Italy) This is the farm (Masseria Apprile) near the town of Locorotondo that we staid at. http://www.masseriaaprile.it/We stayed here in 2005. In the picture at left we are getting ready do have dinner with our host family. Three of us are making pasta. There is an extra charge for the dinner but it is well worth it. It is a big Italian family dinner with the extended family that runs the place.
The picture to the right is of
our party of 4 and our hosts taken just before leaving. You can see we were all good friends by
then. This is a working farm.
Both farms are part of the
Agriturismo network in Italy. For tools

The picture to the left is
the dinning room and kitchen in the apartment in Venice. The hotel that manages this property is also
a nice place to stay. We stayed here in 2005
