If you guessed the space needle you guessed correctly. Ava and three others from the city had arrived early to attend a conference at a restaurant partway up the needle. Since they were not ready for guests yet, Ava's party was offered a free trip to the top.
Actually the top of Rainier or the lava tubes under Saint Helens would probably be even scarier, but the top of the Space Needle is about as scary a place as one could find in the Metropolitan area. Earthquakes are not always accompanied by eruptions but eruptions are always accompanied be earthquakes.
