The label from the original winery. As you can see by the picture of the bottle above, there has been a substantial evolution of bottle labels.

They are currently (2015) selling a reserve oaked Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec. The wines are priced from $45 on up. The winery was started by Jim Frisinger who was also the Vice President for Vineyard Operations at Baringer. Napa Ridge is a second label for Baringer and Jim was involved with those wines also. It is currently run by Jim's son, Karl and his wife Rachel. I called the winery in 2000 and they were not in production due to a blight that their vines experienced. I got an e-mail from Dave's Travel Corner in August 2007. He had been updating his Napa Valley wine list and called the winery. He found that they were no longer making wine but they are growing grapes and selling to producers. Judging by their current vintages, I suspect they went back into production in 2012 but it may have been a little earlier.
In 2009 Jim Frisinger was named chairman of the American Vineyard Foundation, The AVF started in 1978 by the American Society of Enology and Viticulture to raise funds to support for research in viticulture and enology, including both basic and applied research. He has retired as vice president of technical viticulture for Beringer. |
